Poultry play an important economic, nutritional and socio-cultural role in the livelihoods of poor rural households in many developing countries, including Ethiopia, where scavenging poultry are an integrated part of the smallholder production systems. Working with partners from farmers through animal health providers, researchers and policy makers the CH4D project aims to enhance the role of village chickens as tools for poverty alleviation. The CH4D project is a joint program by the International Livestock Research Institute, Ethiopian Institute of Agricultural Research, The University of Liverpool, The University of Nottingham and The University of Edinburgh
