A two day training session was held at EIAR, Debre Zeit, 45km south of Addis Ababa. Staff and students from EIAR, ILRI, The University of Nottingham and The University of Liverpool attended the training session.   Following an introduction to the project, staff received practical training in the clinical examination of chickens and the recording phenotypic traits.  Staff and students gained experienced in the collection of blood from the wing vein and the preparation of blood smears.  The use of leg rings, GPS and digital cameras were of particular interest to most participants.
